While Trump is being treated for having contracted Covid-19 and the country is concerned about his health, the president, on Twitter, urged Congress to reach an agreement regarding a stimulus bill.
According to CNBC, On Saturday, President Donald Trump pressured Congress to pass a coronavirus stimulus plan as his administration and House Democrats struggle to reach an agreement regarding a relief deal.
In a tweet sent, while he is still at Walter Reed Medical Center, the president wrote:
“OUR GREAT USA WANTS & NEEDS STIMULUS. WORK TOGETHER AND GET IT DONE. Thank you!”
For months, Republicans and Democrats have failed to provide the U.S. economy and health-care system with new money, as they haven’t been able to agree on a price tag for the relief package and have important differences regarding what the money should be spent.
This pressure from the president could make some Republicans, particularly in the GOP-held Senate, more comfortable accepting a stimulus deal.
After passing a 2.2 trillion bill, the House left for the month on Friday but could return to pass legislation if Pelosi and Mnuchin can finally reach an agreement.
If a bill is not passed by October 12, it will have to wait till after the elections.
