Facebook said it will allow all employees to work remotely even after the pandemic if their duties can be done outside of an office.

Starting June 15, any Facebook employee can apply to work from home, the Menlo Park, California-based company said Wednesday in a statement. If those employees move to a less expensive region, their salaries will be adjusted accordingly and they will be encouraged to come to the office on certain occasions to improve team building.

The firm said it will be more flexible for employees who are expected to return to the office. "Orientation should be in the office at least half the time," the company said.

Facebook also plans to open most of its US offices to at least 50% capacity in early September and fully reopen in October. Through the end of 2021, employees can work up to 20 business days from another location outside of their area of residence, the company said.
