After his iconic performance as Sheldon, the actor has had other very successful projects... Find out what they have been!
Jim Parsons is a very well-known actor. The Big Bang Theory has truly changed Parsons’ world. He’s played one of the most iconic TV show characters we know, and he's gathered millions of loyal fans in the process. Anyone who knows anything about modern sitcoms knows that The Big Bang Theory is one of the best.
Parsons had an early start in the acting world. His very first role was an appearance in a school play when he was six years old. The acting bug never quite left him, so he proceeded to study theater at the University of Houston.
After that, he enrolled in a graduate program in classical theater at The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program. He graduated in 2001 with a master’s degree in fine arts.
After playing a few more small parts in various television shows, he went on to play the role of Rob Holbrook in the TV series Judging Amy, which ran from 2004 to 2005. In 2006, Parsons landed the role of Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory.
Parsons also uses his acting talent through voice. His first voice-over role was in 2010 in the TV series Glenn Martin DDS. He provided the voice for the character of Draven in the episode “Jackie’s Get-Witch-Quick Scheme.” He was also the voice of the character Oh in the animated DreamWorks movie Home, working alongside celebrities Rihanna, Steve Martin, and Jennifer Lopez
Endorsement deals also add to Parsons’ wealth. He landed his first endorsement deal with Intel in 2014. Furthermore, Parsons lends his voice-over skills to The Big Bang Theory spinoff show Young Sheldon. In addition, he makes money behind the scenes as a producer. Parsons has been a producer for Young Sheldon, A Kid Like Jake, and the documentary First in Human.
In 2017, Forbes named Parsons one of the highest-paid TV actors. He earned $27.5 million that year. This is partly because of his high salary from The Big Bang Theory.
Parsons made $1 million per episode ($24 million per season) in 2017. However, he and his fellow castmates later took a $100,000 annual pay cut so that co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch could earn higher salaries. Jim Parsons has an estimated net worth of $100 million.
