With the growth of the Delta variant, a third shot is recommended for people who are 65 or older.

President Joe Biden is planning to get a third shot of the COVID-19 vaccine to give a message to the Americans.

According to the Food and Drug Administration is recommended for vaccinated Americans that are 65 and older to get a third shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the 78-year-old President will do it on cameras.

"He will do so, and he will do so on camera," Psaki said. "I don't have a date for you exactly."

Back in August, Biden's administration recommended to vaccinated Americans should get a COVID-19 booster shot eight months after being fully protected.

"The available data makes very clear that protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection begins to decrease over time following the initial doses of vaccination, and in association with the dominance of the delta variant, we are starting to see evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease," they said at that time.

"The steps now is that [the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices] is planning to meet.  Based on their recommendation, we're, of course, prepared to operationalize the plan. And that includes having the President get his booster shot as well," said Psaki.
