Milwaukee Bucks won their first NBA championship in 50 years.
Giannis Antetokounmpo ended one of the greatest NBA Finals ever with 50 points — and a championship Milwaukee waited 50 years to win again.
Antetokounmpo was awarded the Bill Russel Finals MVP trophy to chants of "MVP."
"I want to thank Milwaukee for believing in me,” he said. "I wanted to do it here in this city. I wanted to do it with these guys.”
How much money do they win?
NBA is a lucrative sport and teams and players earn tons of money by playing basketball every season. But unlike other professional sports, NBA does not have a fixed amount of Prize Money set out for the winners. Instead, NBA draws a Winner’s purse which is included in the Prize Pool. The players get a bonus fee if they qualify for the playoff.
Following the last season breakdown of the prize pool and assuming the pool increase to $25 million.
- All playoff teams in the first round received $298,485 each
- Teams participating in the Conference Semi-Finals received $355,159 each
- The four teams in the Conference Finals received $586,898 each
- The losing team in the NBA Finals received $2,346,947
- The NBA Champion will receive $3,541,896.
The prize money is just a small chuck when we compared to NBA players’ salaries but still high compared to the NFL final where the winners of the Super Bowl get paid quite less, around $150,000.
