How much is Greta Thunberg's 2021 net worth, and how is it possible?

Greta Thunberg received plenty of media attention for her hard-hitting contributions against climate change. One more thing that has piqued the interest of her fans is the issue of her net worth. How wealthy is she?

Greta Thunberg is a global icon whose fight against climate change first gained prominence in 2018 when she held a one-woman protest outside the Swedish parliament.

Idol Persona reports that Greta Thunberg's net worth is guesstimated at $1 million. And while this is more than impressive for a teenager, what is even more interesting is that it is actually unconfirmed whether Greta gets paid for her activism work. So, how has she been able to accumulate this amount?

However, many of the donations made by the Greta Thunberg Foundation, the charity she founded in 2018, are considerably larger than any ordinary teenager could hope to afford. For example, in 2020, Greta donated $100,000 to UNICEF in their drive to raise funds with which to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

This just increases the curiosity of where she actually earns her money. One possibility is that she earns some money in the form of ad revenue. Seeing as she has an extremely notable presence on social media (she has over 10 million followers on Instagram and over 4.6 million on Twitter), this may be reasonable speculation. However, Greta herself has not confirmed this.

Greta has insisted that her donations come from prize money which she refuses to accept for personal use, and this seems to be the most likely source of her foundation’s revenue.

It’s certainly true that she has received $100,000 in prize money from the Danish charity, Human Act, which was granted for her contribution to ‘worldwide activism’. It is also rumored that she received $1 million from a British charity in 2019, although this is yet to be confirmed.

It is known that her parents, Svante Thunberg and Malena Ernman, are an actor and an opera singer respectively, meaning that Greta has probably been well off in her upbringing. But then again, this is just speculation.

Greta Thunberg’s globe-trotting activism, which has seen her travel by solar-powered boat from Europe to the USA, and has led her to attend a plethora of high-ranking events, summits, and conferences across the globe, has all been funded by private and charitable sponsors.
