Johnny Depp is one of the most popular artists today because of his skills and talent. He knows how to give life to every character he plays. However, despite his success, his finances went downhill.
The Tourist star’s net worth was estimated to be $400 million before it dwindled down to $200. It could be more than that because according to Rolling Stone he was estimated to make $650 million on films alone. Unfortunately, almost all of it was gone.
Unfortunately the marriage between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard did not work out and they have had to deal with a divorce that is no secret has been quite contentious.
Johnny Depp handed Amber Heard a divorce settlement sum of $7 million despite losing his $650 million movie fortune.
Depp's finances are brought up in one of the trials, with the actor's lawyer David Sherborne telling the court how much the actor paid during his divorce from Heard.
Sherborne said Depp paid Heard $7 million, her $525,000 legal costs and wrote off "liabilities" incurred during their marriage which his accountant said totalled "several millions of dollars".
It comes days after the court heard Depp explain how he lost his entire movie fortune of $650 million and was left $100 million in debt just months before he split from Heard.
In addition to bringing him all these financial problems, his personal image has also been damaged and has led to his recent retirement from the Warner company, where he played the opposite role in the film ‘Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them’.
Depp made an Instagram post with a promise that “my life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.” But for now, he has lost out on perhaps his best opportunity to keep working in films made by the major studios.
Likewise, he is gaining more fans again. In fact, many have been campaigning for “#JusticeForJohnnDepp” and they want him back in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
