Like many retailers and Amazon have done, UPS is hiring temporary employees to cope with the surge in demand for home delivery expected for the holiday season.
United Parcel Service (UPS) opened some 50,000 temporary positions across the country that include drivers, aides, and package handlers for the Christmas season that, due to the coronavirus, this year would mean fewer in-person purchases and more online orders.
The multinational package delivery and supply chain noted that seasonal positions have the potential to become permanent, according to Pix11.
Interviews and hiring are already being carried out virtually and in person, under security protocols, with face covers and social distancing.
Getting a job begins with completing an application on the UPS website as of October 30.
Due to the wide demand for virtual purchases at the end of the year, Amazon also announced that it plans to hire about 100,000 temporary workers throughout the country.
