These were Lana Del Rey side hustles before making it big

She might be a millionaire now, but she has worked odd jobs to pay the bills!

Lana Del Rey has become really popular over the years and she lives the life of a celebrity: luxury, glamour, and million-dollar deals with brands like Gucci. But this wasn’t always the case for her.

Before making it big in the music industry, she has had a series of odd jobs to pay the bills —as a matter of fact, she was $17,000 in debt at that time!

As a teenager, she was waiting tables in Lake Placid, New York. At the age of 18, she moved to New York City to study metaphysics at Fordham University. She once told CNBC Make It that back in the day, she would take jobs off Craigslist.

I’d be like a mover, you know, paint houses. I got paid actually not to paint, once I got hired… I was so bad” she joked.

Before making it as a musician, she was also singing in bars for nearly a decade. And she told CNBC that she took babysitting jobs well into her mid-20s.

Happily enough, she continued to pursue her dream even during those challenging times and she became who she is today, releasing a number of hit albums and singles like “Summertime Sadness” (2013), “Young and Beautiful” (2013), “West Coast” (2014), and “Love” (2017), to name a few.

She nailed a record deal in her mid-20s and she remembers quite well what she first spend her money on: “I paid off all my credit card debt,” Del Rey said, “$17,200.”
