Amazon will hire 100,000 for the holiday season

Electronic commerce is one of the few sectors that have benefited from the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus and within this, Amazon is one of the companies that have grown the most in the world.

The sales platform founded and run by Jeff Bezos announced on Tuesday the hiring of 100,000 new seasonal employees to help with the expected increase in demand in both the US and Canada.

Most of the new hires will be hired in California, Texas, Maryland, Georgia, and New Jersey.

Even though it's a massive number of hires, it's less than last year's 200,000. This is probably due to the fact that during the year the online sales giant has been increasing the number of employees.

In addition, the company will offer permanent jobs to most of those hired between March and April.

The prosperity of companies dedicated to e-commerce contrasts with the tough situation of neighborhood businesses and stores.
