In recent years, companies have become aware of the large number of people who cannot consume gluten and the products available on the market for them have increased. Now, Oreo just added gluten-free classic & double Stuf cookies to the list.
Celiacs and people who for other reasons are intolerant or sensitive to gluten have just received great news. According to Thrillist, Oreo is delivering with a gluten-free version of its classic cookie, in both regular and Double Stuf varieties.
Although the gluten-free debut is set to hit stores in early 2021, it will be joining the company's portfolio permanently, so the wait is worthwhile.
"At Oreo, we take pride in regularly adding new choices and varieties based on what we’re hearing from our fans," a rep for the company said via email. " We have been planning the launch of our Gluten-Free cookies for some time and are excited to give more fans the opportunity to experience the playfulness of Oreo cookies beginning in January 2021."
Though there aren’t too many details, Oreo has been working hard to reach a recipe that mirrors the gluten-filled experience but achieves a GFCO certification.
"We made it our mission to ensure the new recipe delivered a comparable snacking experience to the original recipe, while meeting the needs of snackers with a gluten intolerance or gluten sensitivities as well as GFCO standards," the statement continued.
