The wolf of Wall Street (2013)

This is, without a doubt, one of the best movies about Wall Street. Most of the film is based on Jordan Belfort’s autobiography, and shows how he started as a small-time stock broker and rose the ranks to becoming one of the wealthiest Wall Street guys in a few years. But he did not get to that level in the legal way and his investment firm was taken down by the federal government. The director is Martin Scorsese and was nominated for five Oscars.

American Psycho (2000)

This movie gives you an interesting look at the wealthy New York City elite, because follows a wealthy New York City investment banking executive, Patrick Bateman and his psychopathic alter ego. 

Wall Street (1987)

This is the classic called just as Wall Street. The film takes place on Wall Street in the 1980s, following an ambitious stockbroker who wants to rise to the top as fast as he can. He has a mentor (Gordon Gekko) who is also an important role of the movie because provides the insider trading to the main character.

The Big Short (2015)

The Big Short's story follows a group of investors between 2006 and 2007, right before the 2008 financial crisis. In it, a group of investors bet against the US mortgage market after discovering many flaws and corruption in that market. Not only do you learn more about finances, but how some savvy Wall Street investors uncovered many issues in the market before it happened. But no one would really believe them at the time. 

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010)

This is a sequel of Wall Street movie, made twenty years later. Gordon Gekko works now on towards redemption but then his son-in-law, who is a stock broker, encourages him to rebuild his fortune and take down an enemy on Wall Street. 

Certainly after you watch these five movies, you'll have built up a whole concept of how they work on Wall Street, its system and even some of its great secrets.
