4 cocktails you can make for less than $4

As we spend more and more time at home, it is about time we come up with cocktail ideas that we can make in our very own kitchen, especially if it means we don’t have to spend a fortune.

As with any recipe, it is usually more cost-effective to buy your ingredients in bulk instead of shopping for one single recipe. Here are 4 cocktail ideas that you can prepare to enjoy this weekend.

1-    Bourbon Rickey

Ingredients: Evan Williams Black Label ($12 on Amazon), Soda ($3 for a six-pack) and limes ($4.40 for around 5 units)
Yields: 10 cocktails
Price per cocktail: $1.94
Directions: Squeeze the lime into a tall glass and drop it in. Pour the bourbon on top of the lime, add ice and top with club soda. Stir with a bar spoon before serving.

2-    Cuba Libre

Ingredients: El Dorado Original Dark Superior Rum ($14), Coke ($1 for a 1.25 l bottle) and limes ($4.40 for around 5 units)
Yields: 10 cocktails
Price per cocktail: $1.94
Directions: Add 2 oz. rum and 5 oz. lime juice to a Collins glass with ice and top with Coca-Cola. Stir gently and garnish with a lime wedge.

3-    Scotch and soda

Ingredients: Johnnie Walker Red ($12) and Soda ($3 for a six-pack)
Yields: 12 cocktails
Price per cocktail: $2
Directions: Add 2 oz. scotch to a highball glass with ice. Top with soda and stir with a spoon. If desired, you can garnish with a lemon twist.

4-    Pink gin

Ingredients: New Amsterdam Gin ($14) and Angostura bitters ($10)
Yields: 12 cocktails
Price per cocktail: $2
Directions: Add 4 dashes of Angostura bitters to a chilled coupe and swirl to coat the glass completely. Discard excess. In a mixing glass, stir the gin with ice, then strain into the prepared coupe. Express a lemon peel into the drink and, if desired, drop it in.
